Robbie Dixon
- 2010 Winter Olympian
- 8 Top-10 World Cup finishes
- 2-time Canadian Champion
Robbie was born and raised in North Vancouver, B.C. With the towering North Shore mountains surrounding him combined with a strong family history in skiing, it wasn’t long before Robbie was ‘straight-lining’ it down every run. As Robbie reached his teenage years and began to excel in ski racing, he made the move to Whistler and enrolled in a high school program designed around the travel of a ski racer. The B.C. Ski Team was soon knocking on his door. Following strong results on the Nor-Am circuit in 2004. he qualified and became a member of the Canadian Alpine Ski Team in 2005.
His first full year on the World Cup Tour was in 2008. This was highlighted by a surprise 6th place finish in the Hahnenkamm Super-G, starting from the 43rd position, and a 5th place in the Giant Slalom in Kvitfjell, Norway. With the 2010 Winter Olympics fast approaching (on his ‘home hill’ of Whistler), Robbie continued to achieve strong results; a 5th and 8th in the 2009 Lake Louise downhills and 6th in downhill and 8th in Super-G at Val Gardena. In the end, the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Robbie’s first shot at Olympic glory, was a bit disappointing with a DNF in the Downhill and Super-G and a 24th in the GS.
That said, Robbie learned a lot from his first Olympic Games. He looks forward to sharing these stories and tips with you during your next Best of Both trip to guaranteed an exhilarating experience.
