What a week!
Well it has been a big week for the 2010 Winter Olympic headlines. We heard from Regan Lauscher, the seven-time Canadian champion who stated ‘why the hate’ in a very controversial blog posting on Monday, referring to the lack of support she feels from Whistlerite. More Olympic tickets on sale, the announcement of the Molson Canadian Hockey House, (the place to be for Canadian hockey fans). Closer to home, we caught up with Mike Janyk and learned about his training over the summer, his thoughts on the team and his coach, tips to help prepare the body for winter and most importantly how happy he is to be home in Whistler for the Games. In golf, we attended the Presidents Cup at Harding Park in San Fransico, October 6-11. The six day tournament that involves the best names in golf kept all spectators in silence as we observed the US vs the World. As it stands after round 1, US are leading by 1 point; 2 1/2 to 31/2. I am looking forward to attending day six on Sunday, the final day in the competition. Security is tight therefore no live updates from me. (unless someone can tell me the entrance where everyone else managed to sneak in their camera’s and cell phones).
As you may have read, http://bestofboth.ca/blog/2009/09/30/golfing-in-ireland-doesnt-get-better-than-this/ Bryn Parry returned home this week from Ireland – exhausted by the tour he guided for our Ireland trip. Six days of non-stop golf at the best golf courses in the world. Bryn promises me photos and more stories soon – I can’t wait.
This weekend the turkey sale starts in Whistler, the annual three day monster sale provided by Whistler Blackcomb, where big brands are selling at up to 70% discount. No matter what Regan Lauscher has to say, with the turkey sale in town and the first snow of the season that sits proudly on both mountains, Whistler locals will be smiling from ear to ear.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians. Enjoy the holiday.
